Homelab VM Creation Baseline TODO
active
Edit Selected
On 2026-03-22, a follow-up baseline item was identified: define and standardize VM creation in Proxmox as part of the homelab baseline, not just the in-guest Ubuntu configuration.
This new baseline area should cover the provisioning phase before guest setup, including likely defaults such as:
- Proxmox node placement or placement rule
- VM naming and ID convention
- CPU type and default vCPU count
- RAM default
- disk sizing and storage target
- machine type / BIOS standard
- network bridge and Proxmox firewall setting
- guest agent enabled in Proxmox
- on-boot behavior
- Ubuntu install source/template or cloud-init approach
- tags/notes conventions if used
Current status:
- guest baseline is already defined and implemented for svc-dev
- VM creation baseline still needs to be formally defined
- user requested both a memory entry and a Vikunja task so the work is captured
Next action:
- create a Vikunja task to define the Proxmox VM creation baseline standard and integrate it with the existing guest baseline.
